What let-off do you guys prefere? 65 or 80? Any difference on spot set-up vs. 3-D?

Thanks,

For me letoff isn't so much the question as holding weight. I like the bow scale to read between 21 and 22 pounds of draw weight when measuring the lowest reading on the way up. This probably equates to more like 25 or 26 pounds of actual holding weight at full draw, but it's easier to gauge when measuring while letting the bow up. So if I had a bow set up at 60 pounds holding the 21 it would be about 65%. If I was shooting it at 70 pounds though it would be more like 70% letoff. This number will vary from person to person, but the one thing you will find consistant about most of the top shooters is that they all have a magic number that they like to stay near in regards to their holding weight.

Eric said it correctly! I like about 20-22 lbs of holding weight. Most of the time my indoor setups will have around 20 and my 3d about 22. I have had as much as 26 on my 3d bow before and it shot very good. However, if I get a little out of shape it gets harder for me to shoot.

if using back tension to have 70% let off, and since I shoot mainly AR bows i find the ram cam to shoot the best, I do move the ram plus bow to the 65% let off to shoot it which is a actual 70%.and at 66 lbs thats about 20 lbs. but we all have our likes and dislikes. hey congrads on 2005 Eric, and nathan

so what you guys are saying if i can gather this up corectly is that you could care less of the actual let off,,,,,but are more concerned with the actual amount of poundage you are holding back,,,,right???? in other words you guys have a "holding comfort" ????? which to me makes sense. but as young as you two are,,,,,wouldn't you guys be getting stronger each year???? to me,,,,what i DO NOT like is those higher let off's. i shoot a 80% let off and it feels like it has the "ignition" of a ball and cap black powder gun. when i shoot a 60% let off,,,,,it feels like the ignition of a .209 primer. to me that high let off seems "delayed",,,the low let off "instant". i had the same thing while shooting trap. i went to a release trigger because of the "speed". so i therefore assume you guys dont get out of synch with those high let offs???? this is very interesting. you guys have huge discipline,,,,which explains why you are top notch shooters......GOD bless you both.....;)
